ACI 318 ရဲ့ Rusted rebar ဖော်ပြချက် 

Section 7.4.2 of ACI 318 မှာဖော်ပြထားတာက သံချေးတက်နေတဲ့ rebar တွေ၊ ချော်ခဲ‌ (Mill scale ) တွေရှိနေတဲ့ rebar တွေဟာ  hand-wire-brushed test ပြုလုပ်ပြီးနောက် ASTM A-615  သတ်မှတ်ချက်တွေအတွင်းမှာ ရှိနေသေးလျင် အသုံးပြုနိုင်ပါတယ်တဲ့။

Section 12 of ASTM A615 မှာတော့ သံချေးတက်နေတဲ့ rebar တွေ၊ ချော်ခဲ‌ (Mill scale ) တွေရှိနေတဲ့ rebar တွေဟာ  hand-wire-brushed test ပြုလုပ်ပြီးနောက် Labမှာ စစ်ဆေးပြီး  weight, dimensions, cross-sectional area and tensile properties တွေပြည့်မီနေသေးလျှင် သုံးစွဲနိုင်ပါတယ်။

ခုခေတ် အခြေအနေအရ ပစ္စည်းရှားပါးသလို ‌‌‌စျေးလည်းကြီးမြင့်လို့ သံချောင်းလုံးတွေအများကြီး၀ယ်ပြီး သိုလှောင်ထားတာမျိုး သိပ်မလုပ်ကြသလို ၀ယ်ပြီးချက်ချင်း အသုံးပြုကြလို့ သံ‌ချေးတက်တဲ့ အ‌ခြေအနေအထိ မ‌ရောက်နိုင်ဘူးထင်ပါတယ်။ သံချေးတက်နေလျင်လည်း သန့်ရှင်းရေးနည်းနည်းပါးပါးလုပ်ပြီး သုံးကြရတာပါပဲ။ သံချေးတက်တာ သိပ်ပြဿနာမကြီးဘူးလို့ပဲ မြင်မိပါတယ်။

 Can Rusted Rebar Be Used?  

Reinforcement bars rust when exposed to air and moisture. Prolonged storage without proper covering often causes significant rusting. On-site, light rust is commonly wire-brushed before use.  

 Key Standards on Rusted Rebar  

1. Light Rust:  
   - May improve concrete bonding (per some engineers/standards).  
2. Heavy Rust:  
   - Requires hand-wire-brushing to remove loose scale.  
   - Must pass lab tests for:  
     - Weight, dimensions, cross-sectional area  
     - Tensile properties (ASTM A615)  
     - Rib height retention  
   - If compliant with ASTM/ACI 318, reuse is permitted.  

 ACI 318 & ASTM A615 Provisions  

-ACI 318 (Section 7.4.2): Rusted/mill-scaled bars are acceptable if wire-brushed and meeting ASTM A615.  
- ASTM A615 (Section 12): Rusted bars may be used after cleaning and verification of mechanical properties.  

Practical Insight  

 
Current market scarcity and high prices limit bulk storage, reducing severe rust cases. When rust occurs, light cleaning suffices. Thus, rust is rarely a critical issue if handled properly.
