Identification on the fresh specimen

Concrete grade, structural portion, location, time & date, AG Truck number, QC sign စသည်တို့ကို စာရွက်မှာ သေချာရေးပြီး Fresh specimen မျက်နှာပြင်မှာ ကပ်လေ့ရှိပါတယ်။ ID တစ်ခုခုပြုလုပ်လိုက်လို့ specimen မျက်နှာပြင် ပုံသဏ္ဍာန်ပြောင်းလဲမှု မဖြစ်စေရပါ။

Initial Curing of fresh specimen

နေရောင်တိုက်ရိုက်မထိအောင်၊ အစိုဓါတ်လျော့နည်းမသွားအောင် ဖုံးအုပ်ကာကွယ်ထားရမည်။ ပတ်၀န်းကျင်အပူရှိန် 16’C ~ 27’C အတွင်း တတ်နိုင်သမျှ ထိန်းသိမ်းထားသင့်သည်။ ဆိုက်ထဲမှာတော့ ပလတ်စတစ်စ နှင့် သေချာလုံခြုံအောင် အုပ်ထားခြင်းက အလွယ်ကူဆုံးပါ။

Final Curing of concrete specimen

Concrete ရဲ့ Final setting time ကျော်လွန်ပြီးနောက် ၈-နာရီ အနည်းဆုံးကြာမှ Mold များကို Laboratory သို့ သယ်ယူရမည်။ သယ်ယူရာတွင်လည်း Mold တစ်ခုနဲ့တစ်ခု ဆောင့်တိုက်မိတာမျိုးမဖြစ်အောင် အ၀တ်စ၊ ဖော့၊ ကထ္ထူစက္ကူ စသည်တို့ဖြင့် ခုခံပြီး ဂရုတစိုက် သယ်ဆောင်ရမည်။ ၂၄-နာရီ ပြည့်ပြီးလျှင် Mold များကို ခွာပြီး Permanent marker pen ဖြင့် Specimen ဘေးမျက်နှာပြင်မှာ ID ရေးရမည်။ အစောပိုင်းက ကပ်လိုက်တဲ့ စာရွက်ပါအချက်အလက်များ နှင့် တူညီစေရမည်။ (စာရွက်က ရေစိမ်လျင် ပျက်စီးနိုင်လို့ Marker pen ဖြင့် ထပ်ရေးခြင်းဖြစ်ပါသည်)...Mold ခွာခြင်း ID ရေးခြင်းများကို ၃၀-မိနစ်အတွင်း အပြီး ပြုလုပ်ရမည်။ ပြီးနောက် Concrete specimen များကို အပူရှိန် 23’C ခန့်မှာ တောက်လျောက် ထိန်းသိမ်းထားရပါမည်။ အများအားဖြင့် Water Tank  ထဲမှာ ရေမြှုပ်ထားလေ့ရှိကြပါသည်။

Mold ဘယ်လောက်ယူမလဲ

ACI 318 အရ 150 Cubic Yard (or) 5000 SqFt မှာ Test တစ်ခုစာ (အနည်းဆုံး ကွန်ကရစ်လောင်းရက် တစ်ရက်တစ်ခါ) လုပ်ရမည်။ Test တစ်ခုမှာ အနည်းဆုံး specimen နှစ်ခုယူရမည်။ CQHP အရ တစ်ရက်တစ်ခါ သို့မဟုတ် 50m3 တစ်ခါ၊ Random AG Truck မှ Specimen နှစ်တုံးစီ ယူရမည်။ ၇-ရက်သားစမ်းဖို့ အနည်းဆုံး ၂-တုံး၊ ၂၈-ရက်သားအတွက် ၂-တုံး၊ အပို ၂-တုံး စုစုပေါင်း ၆-တုံးယူလေ့ရှိတယ်။

ရထားလမ်း ပရောဂျက်မှာတော့ တနေ့တစ်ခါ၊ မတူတဲ့ Structure တိုင်း၊ မတူတဲ့ အစိတ်အပိုင်းတိုင်းမှာ Mold ယူရပါတယ်။ 3-specimens for 7-days strength test၊ 3-specimens for 28-days strength test and spare 3-specimens၊ စုစုပေါင်း 9~12 nos of specimens အထိယူကြပါတယ်။ သတ်မှတ်ထားတဲ့ Concrete temperature အနည်းငယ်ပိုလျင်သော်လည်းကောင်း၊ သတ်မှတ်ထားတဲ့ ကွန်ကရစ် Retention time အနည်းငယ်ကျော်သွားလျင်သော်လည်းကောင်း additional mold ထပ်ယူပြီး Strength test လုပ်ပေးရပါသည်။ တခါတလေ Slab လိုမျိုး Formwork မြန်မြန်ဖြုတ်ပြီး Progress တွန်းလို့ရအောင် 3-days/ 5-days strength test စသဖြင့် လိုအပ်သလို စမ်းသပ်ကြတဲ့ အတွက် Mold များများ ယူကြတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ 7-days/ 28-days Strength မပြည့်မီရင်လည်း Spare mold များကို ထပ်မံစမ်းသပ်ဖို့ လိုအပ်လို့ များများယူထားတာစိတ်ချရပါတယ်။ ကုန်ကျစရိတ်တော့ များပါတယ်။

How many molds/specimens should be taken?

Identification on Fresh Specimen

Concrete grade, structural portion, location, time & date, AG Truck number, QC sign, etc., must be clearly written on a paper tag and attached to the surface of the fresh specimen. Any identification method used must not alter the surface shape or condition of the specimen.

Initial Curing of Fresh Specimen

Specimens must be covered to prevent direct sunlight and moisture loss. Ambient temperature should be maintained within 16°C to 27°C (60–80°F) whenever possible. On-site, covering securely with plastic sheeting is the simplest method.

Final Curing of Concrete Specimen

Molds must be transported to the laboratory no earlier than 8 hours after the concrete's final setting time has passed. During transport, prevent molds from impacting each other by cushioning them with cloth, foam, or cardboard. After 24 hours, demold the specimens and write the ID directly onto the side surface using a permanent marker pen. This ID must match the information on the earlier paper tag (this overwriting is necessary as paper tags may deteriorate if submerged). Demolding and ID marking must be completed within 30 minutes. Afterwards, concrete specimens must be continuously maintained at approximately 23°C (73°F). They are typically submerged in a water tank.

How Many Molds to Take?

*   Per ACI 318: One test set per 150 cubic yards or 5000 sq.ft of concrete placed (minimum one test per concrete pour day). Each test requires at least two specimens.

*   Per CQHP: Take two specimens per random AG truck, either daily or per 50m³.

*   Common Practice: Minimum 2 specimens for 7-day test, 2 for 28-day test, and 2 extra spares (total 6 specimens).

*   Railway Projects: Take molds daily, for every distinct structure and distinct structural element. Typically take 3 specimens for 7-day strength, 3 for 28-day strength, and 3 spares (total 9–12 specimens).

*   Additional Testing: Take extra molds for strength testing if the concrete temperature slightly exceeds specifications or the retention time is slightly exceeded.

*   Early Testing: For elements like slabs needing fast formwork removal (to accelerate progress), additional tests (e.g., 3-day or 5-day strength) may be required, necessitating more molds.

*   Contingency: Having spare molds ensures specimens are available for retesting if 7-day or 28-day strengths are not met. While this increases costs, it is a reliable practice.
