Comparison of Crushed Rock and River Shingle

• ခွဲကျောက်ဟာ ကျောက်စရစ်ထက် ပုံမှန်အားဖြင့် ပိုမိုသန့်ရှင်းတယ်
• ခွဲကျောက်ဟာ မျက်နှာပြင်ကြမ်းတမ်းပြီး ချွန်ထက်တဲ့ စောင်းတွေရှိလို့ Concrete အတွက် Higher bond and Tensile strength ပိုကောင်းစေသလို ဘိလပ်မြေနဲ့ ရေလည်းပိုမိုလိုအပ်တယ်.. ကျောက်စရစ်ကတော့ လုံး၀န်းချောမွတ်တဲ့ မျက်နှာပြင်ကြောင့် Bonding/Tensile strength အနည်းငယ်လျော့စေတယ်
• ကျောက်စရစ်သုံး ကွန်ကရစ်ဟာ Workability / Flowable ပိုကောင်းတယ်
• ခွဲကျောက်ဟာ လိုအပ်တဲ့ Grading ရအောင် Quarry မှာ ရောစပ်ဖို့ လွယ်ကူပေမယ့် မြစ်ကျောက်စရစ်ကျတော့ သတ်မှတ် Grading ထဲ၀င်ဖို့ Size ပြန်ခွဲဇကာချ (Screening)၊ လိုချင်တဲ့ အ‌ရောရဖို့ Grading requirement အတိုင်းပြန်ရောရမှာမို့ အင်မတန်အလုပ်ရှုပ်ပြီး ကုန်ကျစရိတ်တွေ တက်လာနိုင်တယ်...ဒါကြောင့် အချို့ Consultant တွေက Important concrete structure တွေအတွက် River Shingle ကို Uncertainty of Grading ကြောင့် ခွင့်မပြုချင်ကြပါ...

Comparison of Crushed Rock and River Shingle  

• Crushed rock is typically cleaner than river shingle.  
• Crushed rock has a rough, angular surface, providing higher bond and tensile strength in concrete but requires more cement and water. River shingle’s smooth, rounded surface slightly reduces bonding/tensile strength.  
• Concrete using river shingle offers better workability/flowability.  
• While crushed rock is easier to blend at quarries to meet grading requirements, river shingle requires laborious re-screening and remixing to achieve specified grading, increasing costs and complexity. Some consultants restrict river shingle for critical structures due to grading uncertainty.  
• In river-adjacent regions, river shingle is economically advantageous due to lower costs.  
• Regarding compressive strength, well-selected, clean, and properly graded river shingle concrete need not be inferior to crushed rock concrete.
